Module Learning Strategies
Technical skills modulettes as appropriate, including technical instruction, demonstrations and workshop practice to enable you to handle equipment, processes and materials safely and effectively.
Tutorials - individual and group where you will present your work in progress and receive constructive criticism and feedback.
Group critiques/assessment points where you will engage with peers to receive and provide constructive criticism
Independent study - where you will engage in unsupervised activities, including: historical and visual research, design development, improvement of technical skills, the execution of practical project briefs and the preparation of work for assessment.

Module Indicative Content
This module provides an introduction to a range of basic processes and practices associated with three Dimensional Design. It will involve the exploration of simple processes, supported by research, based on appropriate visual information. You will gain practical experience of working with wood, ceramics, plastics and metals. You will undertake a series of small projects that will develop both technical skills and practical understanding of a range of different approaches to designing and making with these materials. Emphasis is placed on the development of ideas, experiencing qualities through making and focusing on quality in manufacture. Health and safety/technical skills moduletts will be an important feature of your introduction to the 3D workshops.
