Module Additional Assessment Details
You will present for assessment a body of work as outlined in the module information pack. This will include a visual diary/workbook, containing sketches, drawings, calculations, documentation of experiments and evidence of research as well as finished ceramic work.

Module Indicative Content
This module is designed to introduce students to the materials, tools and techniques associated with the design, development and plaster modelling of a small series of tabletop items for manufacture. It will establish an awareness and practice of those machine and hand modelling skills necessary for the production of plaster presentation models - lathe turned three dimensional body forms, related components and hand modelled appendages. It will explore practical, design and aesthetic issues relating to the modelling of plaster form for presentation or mouldmaking purposes and the appropriate professional standards.

Demonstrations and lectures will explain the methods and techniques related to shape design, development and modelling. Students will engage with the production of mood /style boards, design sketches, general assembly drawings, basic capacity calculations, and the development of plaster blending, lathe turning and hand modelling skills. This prescribed student project will establish those essential pre-requisite practical and aesthetic skills associated with the design and modelling of tableware for general ceramic manufacture.
