Module Indicative Content
This module seeks to prepare students for entry into the design profession or postgraduate study. You will be able to make realistic, well informed decisions in relation to your future career intentions, and will develop your ability to cope with the transition from undergraduate study to the next part of your career through the production of a personal career plan.
In addition to this you will produce a thoroughly researched report in which you describe, reflect upon and evaluate the research and processes which you have undertaken in your final year studio project/s. The emphasis will be on reflection and critical analysis. It will be necessary to identify and reflect upon the following areas: contemporary practice including user research, design processes and the influence of practitioners in your specialist area.
Throughout this module you will develop an understanding of your position in contemporary practice in your area of study and the broad context in which your design work will operate.
Entrepreneurial and Enterprise issues such as business planning, gaining press and publicity, grants and funding opportunities will also be covered.
Module Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered through a series of specialist lectures, group discussions, practice presentations and one to one tutorials. VLE will also be used and a range of visiting industry speakers will be assigned to this module.
1 hour whole group briefing/lecture - 19 hours,
individual academic tutorials (3 x 20mins) - 1 hour,
1 hour small group tutorials (6 students max) - 1 hour.
Total - 21 hours.
