A one hour multiple choice online exam (100% of the overall mark) (LO1, 2 & 3)
INDICATIVE CONTENT
In this module you will explore:-
• What is money and why does it exist?
• How do we keep track of money and its value?
You will learn the basic principles of business accountancy and you will develop an understanding of the role of money within organisations. The module will start with an exploration of the history of accountancy and sources of money and will continue with:-
-the main users of accounting information
-the various sources of finance available to the different forms of business organisation
-Why accounting is relevant to every form of organisation (eg. profit making/non-profit making, service sector/ manufacturing sector)
-Why good financial planning, budgeting and control are fundamental to us as individuals and in the context of business organisations.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
Students will engage in a variety of learning forums including:
Tutor-led formal presentations and group-based tutorials. There will also be a technology supported guided learning programme via the VLE. Learning will be active utilising problem based learning to help students develop knowledge, problem solving skills, teamwork and independent learning skills.
