ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1: A 40 minute test weighted at 50% assessing LO1.
Assessment 2: A word-processed report including a spreadsheet and utilising information from a database weighted at 50% covering LO 2. (750 words)
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module aims to provide students with the fundamental skills of maths and IT for use within a business.
The module includes:-
Numeracy: arithmetic operations, percentages, fractions, linear and quadratic functions, powers, roots, ratios and average.
Commercial Software Applications:-
Word Processing (e.g. MS Word)
Spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel)
Database (e.g. MS Access)
Presentation (e.g. MS Powerpoint)

Students will engage in a variety of learning forums including:

Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module is based around students committing a total of 150 hours of activities towards achieving the learning outcomes. These will be split between 39 hours of direct contact with a tutor and 111 hours of directed, guided and self-study, together with preparation for and completion of the assessment tasks. Learning support material will be provided for the module.
The module will draw upon a mixture of activities including lectures, web-based activities, case study analysis, relevant videos and in-class discussions, individual and group problem solving and self-directed learning.
