Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
You will learn how to create your own personal brand and develop the skills you need for successful study and prepare yourself for the jobs of the future. From giving you the digital skills, you need to be the next generation of an accountant to developing your social media presence this module has everything you need to be an effective professional that everyone would want on their team.

It includes:

Developing and protecting your personal brand including Social Media, Avoiding Fake News, Phishing, and Online Identity Theft. Effective communication and interpersonal skills e.g., using Transactional Analysis and presentation skills. Helping to understand people and the way they manage e.g., using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Impactful study skills include Harvard Referencing, writing for a business and academic environment, including research, analysis, critical thinking and debating your point. Critical Management Tools for effective managers, including latest presentation techniques e.g., infographics, data manipulation e.g., within Excel. Achieving successful business start-ups and projects including entrepreneurial skills, Networking for personal and business success, Business Guest Lectures and University Events, Completing the Microsoft suite of exams including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Students will gain knowledge and understanding of aspects of different types of organisations in which professional work occurs. The module will also focus on the different professional bodies' ethics and codes of conduct.

Students will be able to choose from university, school and external events to further their own personal career development

Content also includes:

Career Development: Career Planning, Recruitment processes, skills and issues, Business start-up knowledge and skills, Entrepreneurship.

The organisational context of professional work: Management structure and teams, Types of organisations, financial context, Human Resource Management Issues, Quality and Quality Assurance, Project Management.

Professional Issues: Professional Bodies, Ethics and Codes of Conduct, Legal Issues relevant to professional employment. The need for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Globalisation Issues and the Professional employee.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Group presentation (15 minutes) (30%) LO 2. You will be required to plan a presentation for the group with specific needs and deliver the session during class-time.

An Individual essay with detailed portfolio of evidence and reflection to include a CV, job application pack including personal statement, a LinkedIn profile, competencies in digital skills i.e., Certificates evidence from LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Educator Centre badges weighted at 70%. LO 1 & 3-4.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategy for the module requires students to commit 200 learning hours (including assessment) of which there will be 52 hours of tutor-led learning and 148 hours of independent and self-directed study.

Concepts, theories and principles will be explored, practised and demonstrated. Practical skills enhanced by recommended videos and talks. LinkedIn Learning will be used to direct self-study learning throughout the study block. Cognitive and personal skills developed in open-ended problem-solving exercises. Oral feedback will be given during sessions. The assessment will examine the wider learning outcomes expressed in the descriptor.

You will undertake ‘formative’ assessments during the module to help you monitor your learning and provide you and us with ongoing feedback on your progress, that helps you prepare for the ‘summative assessment(s) during or at the end of the module.

1. Understand the issues and methodologies, concepts, theories and/or data and the link to personal branding and entrepreneurial excellence and critically reflect on and evaluate personal development and career needs using a personal development plan.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of how to develop professional skills to operate successfully within a contemporary organisation, including professional ethics, management, team-working, human resource issues and recruitment and selection processes.
