LO1 Organisations and their supply-chains - customers and suppliers - upstream and downstream supply-chains and networks - SCM as a departure from traditional approaches to supply - managing supply-chain performance
LO2 Product and market analysis - supply chain and network design - lean, agile and leagile approaches - supplier performance management - supplier relationships - vendor-managed inventory (VMI)
LO3 SCM planning - operational planning concepts, including the modelling of activities, inventory and demand management - planning factors and information - risk, safety and security
LO4 Planning the movement of goods - route planning and scheduling - scheduling factors and constraints - commodity flows - collection and delivery site characteristics - planning and scheduling software
LO5 International trade and its contribution to business success- emerging markets - international transport legislation and regulatory framework - implications for logistics operations
LO6 Documents necessary in international trade such as Bills of Lading - methods of payment in international trade: documentary letters of credit and the significance of the differences between them
Module Additional Assessment Details
1 The first assessment will be a negotiated assignment in which students present a proposed end-to-end supply chain for an identified organisation or product (group). Submissions are to include diagrammatic mapping and representation of the proposed chain and will be supported either by a written rationale for or an oral defence the proposals. Appropriate software should be used for transport planning.

LO1 LO2 LO3 LO4 - 67% - 4000 word equivalence.

2 The second assessment will require students to analyse an international case study, and providing specific proposals for business development and international logistics operations.
This assignment will cover 33% of the marks for this module.
(LO5 LO6) - 33% - 2000 words

All learning outcomes are covered by the two assessment methods.
Students must attempt all assessments and achieve an overall pass grade for the module.

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):

Formative feedback will be provided in a variety of forms, including written feedback on proposed titles, outline assignment plans and full drafts. Feedback may take place via full-class, group and individual tutorials.
