Module Indicative Content
This module begins by examining the breadth of corporate finance and corporate treasury management. It will go on to cover the measurement of risk, hurdle rates in theory and practice, and the return on investments. Portfolio theory and the Capital Asset Pricing Model will be studied in this context.
The module will then look at the determinants of a company's dividend policy, a framework for analysing dividend policy, and the different forms of dividends.
You will then go on to explore the various methods of company and share valuation, linking this to the areas studied throughout the module. You will then examine take-over and merger activity and the funding methods available including the growing importance of private equity finance. We will also examine capital reconstructions, divestments and corporate failure.
The module concludes by exploring international aspects of Corporate Finance and will include an introduction to futures and options, the advantages of multi national companies over national companies, the complexities of foreign investment and exchange rate hedging strategies.
