Module Indicative Content
You will be introduced to research philosophy, research methods and develop a project proposal. You will practice academic writing, explore alternative research methods and independently explore suitable project topics related to your career development. You will undertake independent research and progress towards completion of your research project.

Learning Strategies
Your Supervisor will be assigned to you in Week 1. During the independent study period you will be required to familiarise yourself with the concepts of research design and methodology via the resources available on the VLE. During the first week of the accelerated learning stage document analysis and the production of the research proposal and action plan will be covered during group sessions. During the second week of the accelerated learning stage you are required to attend one personal supervisory meeting for discussions on your progress and to receive individual support. At the end of the second week of the accelerated learning stage you will be required to submit your research proposal and action plan and receive electronic feedback on your submission from your supervisor within one week.
During weeks 5 to 13 of the teaching block you will be required to work independently on the production of your assignment for submission during the designated assessment period. During week 9/10 of the teaching block you are required to attend one group workshop with your supervisor to discuss progress and receive support. You are also required to book an appointment with your Supervisor using the schedule of available appointments provided to you by your Supervisor. You must bring to the meeting, a prepared list of questions. The Supervisor is there to provide guidance, whilst the project remains your own work and therefore it is your responsibility to manage your study objectives and study time so that a submission is made of an acceptable piece of work by the stated deadline.
