Module Indicative Content
This module begins with an overview of the objectives of the firm and the nature of financial structures. You will go on to study the sources and uses of funding and the consequent cost of capital. This involves an investigation of financial gearing decision, interest cover and dividend policy. Linked to this is a study of market ratios and business valuation. Overarching these topics are theories of capital structures, including that of Modigliani and Miller.
From this you will proceed to study operational decisions of capital investment appraisal and working capital management. The module concludes with discussion of the role of financial management in business strategy.
