Module Details
Module Resources
Studio and T.I.s as appropriate
Specific skills modulettes will be assigned to this module as soon as possible. A comprehensive listing of the modulettes is available from the Faculty Office, together with the current operational parameters (i.e. group size, time allocation etc.) for the modulettes. Some module descriptors will have more than one modulette assigned and this information will be held by the Faculty Office initially.
Module Learning Strategies
Experimental workshops in 2D and 3D processes, interpretation of a brief, planning, research, evaluation, documentation of work in progress.
Module Additional Assessment Details
1. A set of work which demonstrates at least 2 processes involved in the production of 2D imagery (A,B,D)
2. A notebook showing development of ideas and problem-solving for 3 dimensions, and research into relevant processes, artists and
designers (C)
3. A set of 3D maquettes/models which have been made using at least one of the processes demonstrated during the module (A,B,D)

To achieve a pass you will have applied the skills and methods you have been shown, and will have completed the project including documentation and notebook (Visual Analysis, Production), a competent understanding of health and safety rules in these areas (Production), used drawing in the analysis of form and in the development of ideas (Visual Analysis, Creative Synthesis, Reflection).

To achieve the highest grade your work will show a high level of understanding of the methods and processes used, you will exploit the qualities of materials and demonstrate exceptional skills in fabricating and forming with materials (Visual Analysis, Creative Synthesis). You will have used drawing effectively in the development of ideas, analysis of form and problem solving (Visual Analysis, Creative Synthesis, Reflection).

Refer to the handbook for criteria for assessment.
Module Indicative Content
In this module you will learn how to analyse the 2D image formally and explore its potential through scale and a variety of processes such as photography, relief-printing and reprographics. You will then develop ideas for project into 3D by means of taught sessions in drawing for design and ideas development, and through attendance of workshops in wood, plaster and clay. The use of recording and drawing as a means of understanding 2D and 3D form and for the development and resolution of ideas will be an important part of this module.
