Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This double module is an opportunity for you to work on a more ambitious project devised by you, and negotiated with your tutors. You will be expected to work independently and use your initiative, seeking advice and assistance when necessary. It is an opportunity for you to pursue an idea in your chosen area of specialism in a more sustained and ambitious way than has been possible so far. You will learn about the importance of the way you present work, and will be expected to experiment with this. You will engage in ongoing research of personal relevance to your chosen specialism, and your ideas for the project.
Module Learning Strategies
Generation and development of ideas, communicating with others, self-management of time, decision-making, problem solving, working with materials, methods and types of presentation, written and verbal research.

Module Texts
For you to agree with your tutors. Students are expected to take advantage of the extensive library facilities available within the University; keeping abreast of current developments through appropriate periodicals and being aware of the work of major practitioners in their subject.
Module Additional Assessment Details
1. Practical evidence of the development & realisation of one or more ideas based on a project of your own devising (A,B,C) or
2.Practical evidence of ability to solve a design problem creatively and appropriately within the context of your future specialism (A,B,C)
3. A notebook/ file which integrates theory and practice through research into relevant artists/ designers and their contexts and relate their work to your own developing practice (D).

To achieve a pass you will have developed and realised an idea; shown some ability to solve problems; and manage your time (Creative Synthesis, Organisation); demonstrated an awareness of the importance of presentation (Visual Analysis), and completed a personal enquiry into artists/designers of relevance to your project (Research, Contextualisation).

To achieve the highest grade you will have generated ideas independently, negotiated your requirements, and solved problems as they arise (Creative Synthesis, Organisation). Your ideas and your use of materials will be inventive and will be presented in ways which communicate your ideas exceptionally well (Creative Synthesis). You will have researched in depth and related this to your own practice (Research, Contextualisation).
