MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module is about the way that any professional art or design practice is informed by the work and ideas of other people and other times. You will learn about how and why other artists and designers do the things they do, and will understand how your own work can benefit from this knowledge. You will attend a series of lectures and will take careful notes, writing them up in a coherent form following each lecture. You will carry out independent research to find out more about aspects of the lectures that have interested you. You will undertake at least one study visit and will use it as the basis for further research.

In Semester 1 You will produce an Academic Poster that demonstrates your research and understanding of an Art and/or Design Movement, you will include key illustrations and quotations, which will be referenced using the Harvard system. In Semester 2 You will produce an illustrated essay that outlines your personal interests as Artist and Designers and that starts to describe your area of interest in relation to your own work and the degree pathways within Art and Design.
