Module Learning Strategies
The module consists of a short, intensive, studio-based project and this will provide the framework through which learning will take place. It will integrate the practical generation of design work alongside the development of communication skills, and students will work in multi-disciplinary teams. Studio work will be supported by introductory lectures and seminars; work in progress will be monitored through group tutorials and critiques.

Module Indicative Content
This module provides you with a general introduction to the Foundation Year and to the importance of teamwork and the ability to work with others.
Through a group project you will be encouraged to apply skills of visual and oral communication through tutor and student-led activity and group work. You will learn how to effectively develop individual and group creativity, improve effective communication, realise the importance of individual contribution and understand the need to work together.
This introductory module will also give you the chance to meet and work with staff and other students in your studio environment, explore facilities in the faculty including the library and workshops

At the end of this module you will submit a body of work as outlined in the module handbook.
An individual research file and annotated design development work reflecting your contribution and participation in set tasks and group work. [Learning Outcome 2]
