Module Indicative Content
Students will be introduced to a range of drawing methods to support your development as an animator. Students will undertake exercises in speed drawing, expressive movement life drawing and anatomical studies of both bi-peds and quadrupeds in motion.Students will explore human characteristics from a variety of angles, and be able to express weight, balance and a variety of complex actions such as push, pull, jumping, tripping, throwing and lifting. Through anatomical research you will understand facial construction and expression and be able to reflect body language and gestures. This module attempts to engender performance and dynamic expression in all the visualisation aspects of animation design production This module underpins all animation practice and it is strongly recommended that students undertake this option module. This module should complement Animation (Practice) in Context in exploring the drawing developments in a contemporary practice context.

Development of Life Drawing for animation
Ability to speed draw
Creation of a narrative scroll
Understand layout drawings panning and backgrounds

Through these initial lectures you will gain an understanding of the core concepts, theory regarding the Importance of the human figure in all animation production.

Independent study will form the majority of time spent 'answering the brief' through evidence of character research, preparation drawings, studio strategy and application of methods and processes necessary for completion of an appropriate response to the assignments. Seminars and group Critiques support your studio practice through formative evaluation and will take place at critical points of the semester to review working progress. Summative assessment takes place at the end of the module where portfoilios will be presented for final assessmentThere will be two designated tutorials set up to enable students to discuss their work individually with key members of delivery staff.
