Module Details
Module Indicative Content
You will analyse techniques and theory employed in the creation of 'digital' composite material via discussion, demonstration and worked examples.
You will assess the implications of 'compositing' and 'digital' media in the design, broadcast and entertainment industries.
You will develop and refine a range of techniques and approaches to shot / artwork composition and assembly using both 2D and 3D applications, such as Adobe's Photoshop, Autodesk's Maya and Adobe 'After Effects' and NUKE..
You will reflect on your learning and personal skills development over the course of the module and the application of prior learning.
Supporting this module will be a range of computer workshop sessions, complemented by tutorial movies covering most aspects of the module content, providing you with the skills to work competently in the computer workshops.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Single assignment to be presented in the form of a completed agreed exercise, loaded onto an external video viewer (eg You Tube / VIMEO) of the correct length and featuring content as declared during the module briefing and on Blackboard VLE [ Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5]
Module Learning Strategies
In a series of instructor led workshops you will become familiar with a range of compositing systems / software applications
Attend instructor led computer workshops, watching instructor led demonstrations and completing these exercises over the course of the module.
Work on a variety of workshop based assignments
View a number of key / 'landmark' applications of software and hardware for design, broadcast and entertainment industries.
Work independently in the computer workshops, the studios, and other areas of the University
Access and utilise instructor led tutorial movies
Access further sources of reading, development and awareness e.g. the Internet, Thompson library, related design, broadcast and entertainment industry materials.

Module Special Admissions Requirements
Must satisfy these admission requirements: CW H&S / CW Induction modulette
Students must either have studied AM50299-1 or have demonstratable knowledge in relation to digital compositing packages.
