A comprehensive listing of the modulettes is available from the modulette website: staffs.ac.uk/amdti, together with the current operational parameters (group size, time allocation etc) for the modulettes. Some module descriptors will have will have more than one modulette assigned and this information will be held by the School Office initially.
Module Learning Strategies
Studio learning takes place in timetabled sessions with academic staff who introduce key contextual and practice based lectures focused on the development of
- facial animation and expression.
- Scriptwriting essentials for animation including Synopsis and treatment for animation
- the use of intellectual property rights to protect music and how to source and apply royalty free music to your film

Through these initial lectures you will gain an understanding of the core concepts, theory and practical tools necessary to complete a dialogue driven animation.
Independent study will form the majority of time spent "answering the brief." You are expected to demonstrate evidence of research preparation drawings, studio strategy and application of methods and processes necessary for completion of an appropriate response to the assignments.

Attendance at Technical instruction sessions will be crucial for the understanding and use of software applications and physical production methods in the creation of mouth shapes.
Seminars and group Critiques support your studio practice by providing feedback at critical points of the semester to review working progress. Summative assessment takes place at the end of the module where the work will be presented for final assessment
Student are encouraged to attend tutorials to discuss their work individually with key members of staff.

Module Indicative Content
The module will also introduce you to how a variety of sound sources can be incorporated as narrative, voice dialogue, foley and score .
The main focus of this module is to develop the use of facial animation and lip-synch techniques in conjunction with gestural performance. You will be required to gain an understanding of Exposure sheets and bar sheets and be able to show evidence of their use on the completion of this module.
The module will provided an overview of phoneme based systems for 2D / CGI and stop motion characters. You will make an animation demonstrating how you have incorporated a voice track timed to mouth shapes for assessment. You will investigate the use of music score in films, the importance of copyright protection and how to find and apply royalty free music to your film.

You will present a pitch of a developed concept idea that incorporates script, designs, sound, into an animatic. You should show an understanding of audio editing and the construction of original sound (foley) for inclusion in your animatic as well as a royalty free score. You are required to research the target audience for the brief based upon the supplied theme.
