Indicative Content
This module is designed to support student as they develop the vital skills needed for collaborative team animation production work – preparing them for successful entrance to professional industries.
You will be taught methodologies they will then implement into share planning and practical scheduling outcomes.
This is unique opportunity in the course so far for students to focus entirely on collaboration and with at least animation sequence outcome in mind.
Animation outcomes may be prompted using thematic briefs and or originated by the students themselves – all requiring evidence of a critically reflective and iterative process of development, production and delivery.
Animation projects must be audience focused and informed
Animation outcomes should demonstrate strategic developmental movement towards professional quality expectations.
Students should be aiming for animation sequences to be ready for presentation to audiences outside of the University – citing relevant animation festivals and competitions (or equivalent opportunities for sharing, feedback and recognition) for entry in to.
Additional Assessment Details
Journal (LO 1, 2)
Student will b required to document fully their individual development journey and the processes by which problems have been solved, using reflection and feedback help guide decision making at critical stages of the project(S)
Animation Outcomes (LO 2, 3)
Student will be individually assessed which will include reflection on their effectiveness in cooperative endeavours and ability to communicate and work collaboratively. Depending on the students chosen pathway, outcomes will be negotiated and defined for assessment. Outcome can include still and moving images, fabricated and digital assets and evidence of other processes such as organisation and editing. Student will be encouraged to try out roles and test processes in readiness for the Level 6 Animation Pipeline Module Outcome examples: Sequence of 30-180 seconds running time or negotiated Assets of equivalent complexity and refinement.
Learning Strategies
A series of initial lectures and guidance workshops will provide students with recognised professional methodologies needed to successfully plan and execute the production of an animation sequence(s).
Ongoing seminar and group critique sessions will provide opportunities for student to benefit from and provide feedback encouraging iteration and outcome refinement.
Students will be required to share a production schedule and provide regular updates on progress.
‘Rushes’ screening sessions will be regularly scheduled allowing for cross-level involvement and knowledge exchange.
Students will have the opportunity to undertake more than one project by negotiation and to collaborated with peers from Level 6
