Studio learning takes place in timetabled sessions with academic staff who introduce key contextual and practice based lectures focused on the development of
A Negotiated programme of pre-production for future animation production:
Through initial lectures you will gain an understanding of the core concepts, theory and practical tools necessary to complete a range of professional quality animations.
Independent study will form the majority of time spent "answering the brief" through evidence of research , preparation drawings, studio strategy and application of methods and processes necessary for completion of an appropriate response to the assignments.
You will access studio and pre-recorded material for review and consolidation of software during the module
Attendance at Technical instruction sessions will be crucial for the understanding and use of DVD authoring software applications for showreel production
Seminars and group Critiques support your studio practice through formative evaluation and will take place at 3 critical points of the semester to review working progress.
Summative assessment takes place at the end of the module where the work will be presented as "Trailers" for final assessment
There will be two designated tutorials set up to enable students to discuss their work individually with key members of delivery staff.

Individual Short Animation module is intended to take your work to a professional level of quality in your chosen method of production.
You will negotiate with the award leader and other staff in the development of 3 short animation sketches to be produced during semester 1 demonstrating clear application of prior learning from level 1 and 2.
All aspects of production from concept to completion will be assessed by staff and peers
The project will be developed through to completed animations via further visual and sound developments and animatic treatments.
The Final work will form the basis of professional online portfolio to potential employers and as such should be no longer than 2 minutes in length.

A bound report showing 3 ideas treatment from synopsis through to animation script format. 750 words illustrated (250words per idea)

Development of an ongoing and edited reverse schedule identifying clear work planning.

Panel 1: Powerpoint presentation of 3 idea storyboards and character designs which describe the plot and personality of the narratives.

Panel 2: Presentation a synchronised Animatic sequence for Minor sequences to dialogue or soundtrack (on Mini DV only).

Panel 3 Rushes presentation of ongoing edit for analysis (linked to learning outcomes 3,4)

Panel 4: Completed short animation (assessed) (on Mini DV only)
