Students must either have studied AM50300-2 or have demonstratable knowledge in relation to digital compositing packages.

Module Learning Strategies
In a series of instructor led workshops you will become familiar with a range of compositing systems / software applications, to include in the integration of live-action footage / animated sequences.
Attend instructor led computer workshops, watching instructor led demonstrations and completing these exercises over the course of the module.
Work on a variety of workshop based assignments / further refine supplied working examples.
View a number of key / 'landmark' applications of software and hardware for design, broadcast and entertainment industries and critically appraise this working practice.
Work independently in the computer workshops, the studios, and other areas of the University
Access and utilise instructor led tutorial movies.
Develop and disseminate examples of contemporary practice or areas for future development via appropriate authoring software.
Access further sources of reading, development and awareness e.g. the Internet, Thompson library, related design, broadcast and entertainment industry materials.
Module Indicative Content
You will critically analyse techniques and theory employed in the creation of 'digitally' composited media to include live-action footage / animated sequences.
You will review the application of 'compositing' and 'digital' media in the design, broadcast or entertainment industries especially in relation to live-action footage / animated sequences.
You will develop and refine a range of techniques and approaches to shot / artwork composition and assembly using both 2D and 3D applications to include Adobe's Photoshop, Autodesk's Maya, Adobe After Effects, PF Track and NUKE.
You will reflect upon your learning and personal skills development over the course of the module and the application of prior learning, using contemporary practice as a benchmark.
You will reflect upon the effectiveness and relationship of key software and hardware in the production of digital content in the design, broadcast or entertainment industries and the negotiated project outcome.
Supporting this module will be a range of computer workshop sessions, complemented by tutorial movies covering most aspects of the module content, providing you with the skills to work competently in the computer workshops.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Single assignment to be presented as completed agreed exercise, loaded onto an external video viewer (eg You Tube / VIMEO) of the correct length and featuring content as declared during the module briefing and on Blackboard VLE
