Indicative Content
This is an independently driven module with students required to negotiate their project subject, based on the work they already started in the Animation Expert module Research File assignment.
The module will be launched with a detailed briefing session and supported by scheduled feedback opportunities, as well as online resources that will allow individual students to work at their own pace.
Students will have scope to investigate any aspect of animation culture, industry, or production that is sufficiently supported by appropriate research and negotiated with academic staff.
Outcomes can be disseminated though practical, written, or alternate media forms, but must be accompanied by relevant academic referencing – and the format must be negotiated with (and signed off by) academic staff by a provided deadline.
Students will also present their work in progress to students from other levels to help build others understanding of the larger context of animation – and get feedback on their project’s development.
Additional Assessment Details
Passion Project Report (LO 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Students will have the opportunity to individually negotiate what format to present the outcomes of their research. The standard (i.e., if students choose not to negotiate) will be a 4000-word academic report or 20 min video essay. However, depending on the format (and linked audience) the student chooses, word count or lengths may vary. For example, a series of short films aimed at primary school children might have a longer overall running time, or a graphic novel chapter might have a shorter word count.
Passion Project Presentation (LO 2,3,4)
A recorded presentation will give student the opportunity to share knowledge and enter a discussion with questions and answers.
