Module Learning Strategies
You will achieve the objectives of the module through a combination of formal contact (24h.) which will comprise an appropriate combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops and 126h. of directed/self-directed study comprising online information searches, reading appropriate literature and compiling a portfolio of evidence of your studies
Module Indicative Content
This module provides an overview of the requirements for professional practice as a biomedical scientist and is an introduction to the co-terminus route through the BSc (Hons.) Biomedical Sciences degree. You will be made aware of, and research, your

- degree of professional autonomy and accountability (e.g. legal and ethical boundaries of your profession, equality issues, exercise of a professional duty of care, treat patient data confidentially, know the limitations of your competence and when to seek professional advice, recognise the need for effective self-management, understand your obligation to maintain fitness for practice and to pursue career-long self-directed learning).

Module Additional Assessment Details
Submission of a portfolio of evidence to include evidence of lectures / seminars attended and evidence of completion of directed tasks within the module. The tasks / evidence will be a sub-set of competencies identified in the IBMS's 'Certificate of Competence Registration Portfolio' (100%).

Students will be provided with formative assessment and feedback via written comments on submitted exemplar material.
