Module Indicative Content
The module covers both leadership and practical skills. It is orientated towards people who may have to lead terms of workers or undertake the skills themselves. Interpersonal skills and leadership strategies will be developed the responsibility of a leader in terms of risk assessment and health and safety are covered. Skills to recruit staff and to appraise them are also taught. The practical skills developed during the module are hedgelaying, drystone walling, fencing estate carpentry and the safe use and application of pesticides. Opportunity will be provided to take their National proficiency test council test certificate or competence in safe use and handling of pesticides (PA1).

Formative feedback will take place in tutorials and by review of assignment plans prior to submission.
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures supported by tutorials and a field trip 43hrs. Assignments to develop self-learning skills 107hrs, assignments take the form of a brief, broken down into tasks. These tasks are researched and the information presented in the form of a report. There will also be role-play.
