Work based assignment/portfolio - 290 hours and you are required to draw on your 80 days¿ work experience for completion of this module.

The assignment will have a standard brief and format but the choice of topic will as a result of negotiation with your employer/mentor and your tutor. The mentor report must be passed, but will not contribute to the module grade.
Module Indicative Content
The module requires you to identify and assess your personal skills set and match these to the industry requirements to meet your current and potential future job role in your work/work placement.

During this module you will, in consultation with your workplace mentor, identify your personal development needs appropriate to industry requirements. You will analyse how effective your current skills are in meeting the requirements, produce a personal development plan that will enable you to work towards the identified needs, and use the placement to start developing the required skills set.

You will then further develop the skill set identified and apply these agreed tasks in your workplace. You will be required to explain how you have developed the appropriate skills and applied these to specific tasks by your employer/mentor.

Although the skills set would vary between individuals and placements, the sorts of skills likely to be developed include practical habitat management and species survey skills, visitor management, interpretative tasks etc.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A portfolio containing self-appraisal of skills set, a mapping of these to industry needs and a personal development plan weighted at 30% (Learning outcomes 1 and 2).

A report including an appended log of work based activity initialled by your mentor length 3000 words weighted at 70%. (LO 3 ¿ 6).

An employer¿s/mentor¿s report Pass/Fail weighted at 0%.

Formative feedback will take place in tutorials and by review of your assignment at the end of year one.
