ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1: Reflective Analysis
This assessment focuses on individual differences, motivation and performance within organisational contexts.
You will produce a reflective analysis exploring one functional area (Marketing, Finance or Human Resource Management). Using data sources introduced within the module, and you will examine how individual differences influence performance, job satisfaction and reward effectiveness.
You are required to:
Select one functional area (Marketing, Finance or HRM)
Identify relevant organisational data sources (e.g. dashboards, performance indicators, descriptive analytics)
Analyse how individual differences influence performance, motivation or satisfaction
Reflect critically using appropriate academic theories and concepts on what the data reveals about people management and organisational effectiveness
The emphasis is on interpretation, reflection and understanding, rather than proposing organisational change.
Embedded Formative Feedback Opportunities include:
Data-handling workshops exploring dashboards and descriptive analytics
Tutor-led feedback on early data selection and focus
Guided reflective prompts discussed in class
Optional formative feedback on reflection structure and analytical depth
Assessment 2: Evidence Based Case Study
You will produce an evidence-based case study analysing a real or tutor-approved organisation. Using provided or publicly available organisational data, and you will critically examine leadership, culture, performance and organisational processes.
You are required to:
Analyse organisational performance using quantitative and qualitative data
Evaluate leadership styles, power structures and control mechanisms
Examine group dynamics, diversity and employee engagement
Critically assess how culture, communication and socialisation affect organisational change
Propose an evidence-based recovery or improvement strategy, justified through data and theory
The assessment emphasises critical analysis, synthesis of data and theory, and applied reasoning, rather than purely descriptive case reporting.
Embedded Formative Feedback Opportunities include:
Case study selection approval with tutor guidance
In-class workshops analysing organisational data and performance indicators
Structured activities applying leadership, culture and change frameworks
Peer discussion and feedback on emerging analysis
Tutor feedback on draft analytical focus and use of evidence

WEB DESCRIPTOR
In today’s fast moving business environment, sustainable competitive advantage requires a sophisticated synthesis of human capital insights and data-driven strategy. This module bridges the gap between psychological theory and commercial intelligence, positioning Organisational Behaviour as a critical driver of business performance. By treating data as the key in exploring how modern enterprises capture and leverage behavioural metrics to decode consumer preferences, optimise corporate communication, and mitigate risk.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategy for this module is based around students committing a total of 300 hours of activities towards achieving the learning outcomes. These will be split between 72 hours of direct contact with a tutor and 228 hours of directed, guided and self-study, together with preparation for and completion of the assessment tasks. Learning support material will be provided for the module.
The module will draw upon a mixture of activities including lectures, web-based activities, case study analysis, relevant videos and in-class discussions, individual and group problem solving and self-directed learning.
In addition to formal teaching, the module emphasises collaborative learning through group discussions and workshops.
Self-directed learning plays a crucial role in the module, with students encouraged to explore extensive online resources, digital libraries, and the module’s Blackboard system. This independent study component fosters digital literacy and research proficiency, allowing students to consolidate their learning at their own pace while preparing for assessments.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
We foster an inclusive environment by providing formative feedback and diverse learning pathways. Students explore how individual differences—such as personality and motivation—impact job satisfaction, using flexible assessment formats to demonstrate their understanding of diversity management and inclusive team dynamics.
Simulation
Students engage in inquiry-based simulation by acting as organisational consultants. You will analyse real-world business operations and data to identify performance trends, evaluate the efficacy of reward systems.
Academic, Digital, and Research Skills
Students will sharpen their digital literacy by interpreting complex organisational data to highlight key performance indicators. Through research-informed design and digital storytelling, you will communicate strategic recommendations that support organisational evolution and professional confidence.
This module aligns with the Experience principle of the Employability Framework by immersing students in applied consultancy-style practice. Through the analysis of organisational data and development of evidence-based recovery strategies, students gain hands-on experience of professional workflows, decision-making and problem-solving relevant to graduate employment in business, consultancy and management roles.
