Learning Outcomes
1. Develop a sound and in-depth knowledge of and practical capability to select and apply selected data collection techniques in quantitative and mixed-methods methods
Enquiry
2. Critically review and provide an analysis of how appropriate quantitative techniques can be applied in relation to established research objectives
Analysis
3. Review and develop understanding of the need for and the purpose of piloting aspects of primary or secondary data acquisition, in relation to a management research question, from a quantitative methodology perspective
Application
4. Demonstrate ones ability to formulate and communicate insights, into management research decisions through analysis of quantitative data, to a high professional standard
Problem Solving
Assessment Details
The student is required to produce a paper, demonstrating analytical rationale, that will cover quantitative methods for data collection, analysis and interpretation of results
100% 5000 words covering Learning Outcomes1-4
Indicative Content
This module will equip students to undertake a doctoral level study which may involve quantitative data analysis through the understanding of quantitative research methods which includes:
critically analysing quantitative datasets
interpreting results which are within acceptable epistemological limits
evaluating limits of datasets and results
equipping students with the practical application of relevant data analysis software
Web Descriptor
At the end of this module the student will have a comprehensive understanding of quantitative research methods.
Learning Strategies
The candidates are expected to engage in independent study. This will take the form of undertaking follow-up tasks, reflecting on own practice, reading relevant literature, and engaging with online materials through the universities virtual learning environment (VLE), Blackboard. Students will be expected to keep up to date with current business and management practices through various websites and academic journals.
