MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Identify and explain the role that information and communications technology (ICT) has in creating and exchanging knowledge in the digital age.

2. Demonstrate the use of written and oral communication skills within a digital setting, both individually and as a team.

3. Discuss how effective communication in the digital age is essential and reflect on how it can be the difference between success and failure.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
You work for the “Digital Media Marketing Foundation”.

They have requested that you develop a digital communications policy for a local visitor attraction which is potentially planning to attract students studying within the Midlands area.

In groups of no more than four participants, create a digital document - for example a SWAY - outlining digital communication methods that could be applied and the rationale behind the choice of communication.
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
In this module, you will develop the oral, written, visual and digital communication skills required in modern business. You will investigate why communication is vital for effective entrepreneurship, no matter the size of the business. From communicating with clients and pitching to prospects, good communication, both written and verbal can be the difference between success and failure.

You will study how digital age communication has gone beyond the written word, with emojis and GIFs becoming part of the visual communication process. Despite their apparent simplicity, emojis can be a powerful tool for conveying complex emotions that are difficult to put into words.

You will see how communication skills are actually now even more important, when cues such as body language and vocal tone are being cut out of the communication equation. Communication is becoming increasingly more impersonal and distant with email, texts, and instant messaging forming the most part of our daily lives. You will examine how communication in the Digital Age may have evolved dramatically, but the necessity for excellent communication skills remains the same.
