Students must submit work for all assessments:

Assessment 1: A written report of 2500 words, based upon research undertaken by the student, to include critical analysis of their response to briefs negotiated with a client/tutor, demonstrating involvement and personal approach in the design, creative manufacture and presentation of a related garment outcome (90%) [Learning Outcomes 2, 3, 4]

Assessment 2: Reflective Learning Journal documenting the student¿s learning progress associated with the project (10%) [Learning Outcomes 1, 3]



Module Indicative Content
This module builds on skills developed in Introduction to Specialist Pathway (Costume and Bridal) to enable students to deepen their experience and understanding of the application of skills in a professional context. They will be expected to gain a substantial part of the evidence for assessment from work-based projects, using and building on skills developed in other Level 1 modules such as Visual Studies and Fundamental Skills for Fashion Industries.

Using the knowledge, skills and understanding developed in the Introduction to Specialist Pathway (Costume and Bridal), students will use their knowledge to address identified need(s) in the working environment. This may be part of a larger programme of work being undertaken in the workplace, or experience associated with working freelance or in an entrepreneurial role.

Students should be increasingly working independently, and may be identifying and/or initiating projects in order to meet the outcomes of the module: such a project should be planned in consultation with the student's tutor and mentor.

Module Resources
It is expected that students will have some work practice in this module.

They will have access to general and specialist art and design studios and resources at the college including computer suites and libraries. They will also have access to computer suites and libraries at the university.
