Module Resources
Students will have access to general and specialist art and design studios and resources at the college including computer suites and libraries. They will also have access to computer suites and libraries at the university.
It is expected that this module will require regular access to lecture theatres and the HE board room with interactive whiteboard for presentations and group discussions.
The Blackboard virtual learning environment will be available (where relevant) to support this module. Details will be supplied in the module handbook.

Module Indicative Content
Students will be able to explore the historical and contemporary fields of fashion and textiles, building on core workshop delivery to extend their knowledge and understanding of the industry and related developments. Students will be expected to include independent research into own specialist pathway in relation to its past, current and future context. In doing so, students will gain an understanding of the impact of context on design and use this understanding to inform their own work. They will develop research and study skills to enable them to work effectively.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students must submit work for all assessments
Assessment 1: A report of 1500 (including written and visual material) identifying key contemporary and historical fashion and textiles developments, with reference to social, political and art historical context and including examples specifically relating to personal specialist pathway. Actively engage with discussions and workshops (50%) [Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4]
Assessment 2: An illustrated case study of a designer / design style / genre / period in relation to personal specialist pathway and own work, including 1500 word report. (50%) [Learning Outcomes 1, 4]

Introductory briefing at onset of module: 1 hr
