Module Resources
It is expected that students will have some work practice in this module.

They will have access to general and specialist art and design studios and resources at the college including computer suites and libraries. They will also have access to computer suites and libraries at the university. It is expected that students will also access information from external organisations.

It is expected that this module will require regular access to lecture theatres and the HE boardroom with interactive whiteboard for presentations, discussions and critiques.

The Blackboard virtual learning environment will be available (where releant) to support this module. Details will be supplied in the module handbook.

Introductory briefing at onset of module: 3hrs

Module Indicative Content
This module is designed to consolidate and draw on all previous learning experience for the award. Students are encouraged to work independently to individually negotiate and solve an industry-based brief in their relevant specialist area, which has been negotiated with a tutor and/or client. The production of final product(s) and/or event will be documented and evidenced for assessment 3. Part of the work will be in the evaluation and reflection upon the whole of the learning programme from the initiation of the Foundation Degree, demonstrated in the students revisiting the whole of their Reflective Learning Journal and making reference to personal improvements, strengths and weaknesses in relation to their approach to the course.

The use of visual communication as a tool will also be explored through this module, with reference to its use for specified audiences and purposes. Students will apply their understanding by producing a form of visual communication for an intended purpose.

This module will ideally will be taken alongside Start-Up Planning and Promotion to enable students to explore planning and promotions as part of a live project, and to emphasise the importance of self-promotional strategy within the industry.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Students must submit work for all assessments, and must pass the Reflective Learning Journal assessment.

Assessment 1: Production of the Reflective Learning Journal referring to / annotated across the whole of the learning period, reflecting on the student's experience (10%) [Learning outcomes 1, 2, 6]

Assessment 2: One project brief, with research, design and creatively / innovatively approached solutions identified and resolved (60%) [Learning Outcomes 4, 5]

Assessment 3: Involvement and participation in production of a final product and /or event (30%) [Learning Outcomes 3, 5]
