Module Details
Module Additional Assessment Details
Assessment 1
The presentation of a piece of recorded work supported by a discussion relating your own work to current practice and practitioners in the music industry. Personal goals and identified development needs will be described in your presentation. [LOs 2, 3, 4, 5]

Assessment 2
Time constrained class test on a leading digital audio system [LO 1]

Formative assessment:
You will be asked to complete work in a studio situation in a time-constrained manner, in order for you to rehearse working to a given brief with clear time limitations.
Module Indicative Content
In this module you will explore a leading recording and editing system in order to develop your skills and further understand the application of software in a professional environment. You will study the essential features of Pro Tools software. You will also use Pro Tools hardware to produce a high quality music project.

This module will comprise two parts: first you will develop your skills and produce an individual piece of work for an end use that you have identified, demonstrating your ability to use recording and editing systems to a professional standard. You will present your work to your peers and tutor(s), showing your ability to evaluate your work and relate it to the current recording industry. Your reflective presentation will explore how your own work relates to current practice and named practitioners in the sector, and will offer the opportunity for you to evaluate the skills you need to develop to reach your own identified goals. Your wider knowledge of the sector will support your skills development in the second part of the module.

The second part of the module is designed to reflect the content of AVID¿s official 101 and 110 course programmes, and you will be prepared to undertake these tests at external providers should you wish to do this.

To support your work you will be studying the following areas:
-Managing sessions and tracks
-Recording audio and MIDI
-Working with virtual instruments
-Editing midi and audio
-Workflow efficiency
-Mixing processes
