INDICATIVE CONTENT
A Showcase Performance is an opportunity for Musical Theatre practitioners to perform their pieces for the purpose of securing employment. This module is designed to give you the opportunity to reflect on previous practical training and develop a performance (or performances) that showcases your strengths and abilities relating to the many performance disciplines within Musical Theatre. Depending on where you consider your strengths lie, you may opt to showcase acting, vocal or dance prowess, or a combination of disciplines. You will learn about the current professional Musical Theatre environment and global employment opportunities should inform your evaluative decisions regarding choice and style of performance material. This in turn should develop a critical awareness of your personal performance strengths and limitations, enabling you in future to make informed, educated decisions when applying for suitable auditions / castings.

In order to present a suitable range of evidence, you may choose to draw on previous work but you must include current performance material. Your performance showcase should be thoughtfully created to a highly professional standard, clearly communicating your preferred casting potential.

You will perform your showcase to panellists (typically tutors with industry experience, externals for example from the Garrick or other industry professionals) demonstrating an appropriate combination of your Acting, Vocal or Dance prowess, and respond to feedback on the various aspects of your performance and advice on how to move forward. You will also produce a record of your showcase and present it utilising an appropriate online platform (such as a web based show reel, voice reel, or spotlight page) for the purpose of communicating your casting potential to prospective employers worldwide.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. DEMONSTRATE AN ABILITY TO ASSIMILATE INFORMATION RELATING TO THE CURRENT PROFESSIONAL MUSICAL THEATRE ENVIRONMENT AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND KNOW HOW YOUR OWN ACTING, VOCAL AND DANCE ABILITY CAN BE INTEGRATED AND APPLIED IN RELATION TO AUDITIONS / CASTINGS.
Learning

2. CONVEY INDIVIDUAL CASTING POTENTIAL WITH INSIGHT AND TO APPROPRIATE AUDIENCES, SKILFULLY UTILISING A RANGE OF SUITABLE MEDIA, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL.
Communication

3. DEMONSTRATE AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF ACTING, VOCAL AND DANCE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE WHEN CREATING A PERSONAL PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE AIMED AT EMPLOYMENT AS AN ENTRY LEVEL PERFORMER.
Application

4. CAREFULLY CONSIDER PERSONAL PERFORMANCE STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS IN RELATION TO OWN PROGRESSION AIMS IN ORDER TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS REGARDING THE CONTENT OF YOUR SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE.
