100% portfolio assessing learning outcomes 1-4.
The portfolio (a phased series of tasks) will comprise a series of practical exercises. (3000 words max.)
Module Indicative Content
This module aims to demonstrate the structure and functions of computer systems and digital devices in terms of mutually interdependent hardware and software. The module also aims to encourage an understanding of networked computer systems, the internet and emerging internet technologies.
The module content will include the following topics:
- Overview of computer systems: identification, purpose and functionality of key components within a computer system
- Using system software: the operating system, utility programs, and file management
- Digital Lifestyle: managing and securing digital data and devices
- Introduction to computer networks: data transmission, protocols, the Internet and emerging technologies, LANs and WANs.
