Module Special Admissions Requirements
Only available for study as a part-time evening module at full market value cost.
Students must have passed Network Fundamentals, Routing Protocols and Concepts and LAN Switching and Wireless, or passed CCNA1, 2 and 3 as part of a CNAP programme.

Module Learning Strategies
The module is:
- Self-managed learning using on-line material
- On-line multiple choice tests, relating to each of the modules
- The module will be delivered over 8 weeks; 2 x 3hr evenings per week, Each evening typically comprising one I hour lecture per session to supplement on-line material and 2hrs practical experimentation

A 50% coursework typically an online assessment or case study of approximately 1500 words (Learning Outcomes 1 and 2).
Practical Coursework 50% (Learning Outcome 1).
Module Indicative Content
Accessing the WAN is the last of the four sub-modules preparing students for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation. Accessing the WAN introduces students to Wide Area Networks (WANs), networks security using ACLs, teleworker support and network troubleshooting. Upon completion of this course, students will have performed tasks related to:
- PPP
- Frame Relay
- Network security using Access Control Lists
- IP addressing services
- Network troubleshooting
