Module Additional Assessment Details
Assessment takes the form of a mixture of formative and summative assessment. Formative assessment may typically include written and oral examinations and is used as a progress check measured against defined performance standards. Failure in such formative tests would lead to review and remedial activity focused on enabling the student to 'make good' any deficiencies in their performance.
A pass mark of 70% is applied.
Summative assessment includes a series of assessments that comprise written exams (mostly short answer with some multiple choice) and practical assessments such as assessed briefings. The final assessment is an integrative large scale simulated practical (instructor observed/monitored) exercise that brings together many of the aspects of knowledge and skills covered in the previous parts of the course.
