Network Security Using PIX/ASA focuses on overall LAN security processes with particular emphasis on hands on skills in the following areas:
Security policy design and management
Security technologies, products & solutions
Firewall and secure router design, installation, configuration and maintenance
AAA implementation using routers and firewalls
VPN implementation using routers and firewalls

A 50% coursework typically an online assessment or case study of approximately 1500 words (Learning Outcomes 1 and 3).
Practical Coursework 50% (Learning Outcomes 2 and 4).

The module is:
- Self-managed learning using on-line material
- On-line multiple choice tests, relating to each of the modules
- The module will be delivered over 8 weeks; 2 x 3hr evenings per week, Each evening typically comprising one I hour lecture per session to supplement on-line material and 2hrs practical experimentation
- 16 hours lectures and 32 hours labs / tutorials
