Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module will allow the student to build upon there current skill set into the important area of troubleshooting a commercial IP based network. The following topics will be looked as a part of the course

- Diagnosing and correcting TCP/IP and switching problems
- Diagnosing and correction of IGP and ECP routing problems
- The use management protocols to ensure correct operation of network and fault diagnostics
- Planning and carrying out maintenance of a operational network
- Using systematic Information technology INfrastructure Library (ITIL) compliant approaches to fault diagnostics
Module Additional Assessment Details

A practical exam, length 1 hour (not in examination conditions), weighted at 50% (Learning Outcomes 1 and 2).

A written examination, length 2 hours, weighted at 50% (Learning Outcomes 3 and 4).

Weekly one hour lecture to supplement on-line material
On-line multiple choice tests to give formative feedback
Lab sessions every week to gain practical networking experience and re-enforce the lecture theory
