Module Indicative Content
This module will allow the student to build upon their current skill set into the important area of troubleshooting a commercial IP based network. The following topics will be looked at as a part of the module:-
- Diagnosing and correcting campus TCP/IP and switching problems
- Diagnosing and correction of IGP and EGP routing problems
- The use of management protocols to ensure correct operation of networks and fault diagnostics
- Planning and carrying out maintenance of an operational network
- Using systematic Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) compliant approaches to fault diagnostics.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 50% coursework typically an online assessment (Learning Outcomes 1 and 4).
Practical coursework 50% (Learning Outcomes 2 and 3).
Module Learning Strategies
The module is:
- Self-managed learning using on-line material
- The module will be delivered over 15 weeks, 2 x 3 hour evenings, each typically comprimising one 1 hour lecture per session to supplement on-line material and 2 hours practical experimentation
- On-line multiple choice tests, relating to each of the modules
- 30 hours lectures and 60 hours labs/tutorial

Only available for study as a part of the Network Optimisation award. It is recommended that the learner has CCNA or equivalent. Only available for study as a part-time evening module at full market value cost.
To have completed (CE00862-6 and CE00861-5) and/or study of modules containing CCNP content or equivalent or have a valid CCNP qualification.
