INDICATIVE CONTENT
This course will look at the Quality of Service (QOS) techniques which are available in a modern network to allow the priority of certain traffic or where to remove traffic for the benefit of the rest of the user base.
Some of the topics will be:-
• Understanding the needs of the QOS
• Classification and Marking
• Congestion techniques
• Link Efficiency Tools
• Policing and Shaping of traffic
• Pro Active Monitoring
• Design Strategies for QOS in a commercial environment
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A practical exam, length 1 hour (not in examination conditions), weighted at 50% (Learning Outcomes 2 and 4).
A written examination, length 2 hours, weighted at 50% (Learning Outcomes 1 and 3)

LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Evaluate critically how application data may be formatted and compressed into protocol data unis, prior to being presented to the lower levels of the OSI model. (Knowledge and Understanding, Learning).
2. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge in the application of QOS techniques within a networked environment. (Application).
3. Analyse critically and evaluate complex network scenarios and be able to develop comprehensive baseline and network documentation. (Analysis).
4 Analyse and configure networked applications and operating systems. (Analysis, Problem Solving).
