Module Additional Assessment Details
A COURSEWORK weighted at 100%. (Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4).
This will be a portfolio consisting of a research report 1500 words (50%) LO1 & 4, and a practical expression of the students understanding in a practical lab based assessment (50%) LO2 & 3 final component.

Key characteristics of various switching technologies, LAN Switching and the hierarchical model of network design, VLANs and network security, VLANS and broadcast distribution, configuring VLANs, VLAN Identification (ISL, IEEE 802.1q)
Spanning tree protocol (STP)
Inter-VLAN routing
Restricting network access, Access policy overview, controlling privilege levels, policy configuration
Integration of wireless LAN architecture for mobile wireless users in compliance with 802.11 IEEE standards in addition to IP telephony.
Designing and building a campus network with Layer 3 high availability.
