Module Indicative Content
This module covers the main aspects and concepts of digital devices and the significance of implementing forensic techniques to collect digital artefacts from individual and networked computer systems. In particular it will address :
- Computer systems components architecture and infrastructure
- Storage devices, adapters, laptops and portable devices, Internet, intranet, organiser devices, mobile phones
- Media and storage - file storage systems, media such as hard disks, network storage, Zip and floppy formats etc.
Files - deleted files, hidden files, monitoring processes, encryption issues

An assignment length 3000 words weighted at 100% (Learning outcome 1,2,3,4 )
Module Learning Strategies
The material will be presented through a combination of lectures, tutorials, practical exercises and directed self-study as a substitution for some tutorials/lectures.
Teaching will take place over 9 weeks and will be in the form of 1 lecture and 1 x 2 hour tutorial sessions for 5 weeks, week 6 ¿ week 8 1 hour lecture and 1 hour tutorial and week 9 1 hour lecture and 2 hours tutorial.
