Indicative Content
This module runs in parallel with the Leading Digital Transformation module as the vehicle to contextualise the material covered to your specific apprenticeship role and opportunities identified within the Technology Strategy module.

The technical content will be self selecting but must be drawn from the apprentice’s specialism KSBs as defined in the DTSS Apprenticeship Standard to further develop the apprentices technical knowledge and skills

Supporting content will cover/review:

Management functions in the context of technological change;

The personal leadership qualities to establish and maintain an organisations technical reputation.

The role of leaders as change agents and identify contributors to successful implementation;

Document, review and design complex IT enabled business processes

Identify activities that to accomplish specific organisational goals a

Quality and improvement processes;

Development and delivery of technical and non technical management level presentations

This module will support the development and assessment of the following Knowledge, Skills and Bevaviours from the DTSS Apprenticeship Standard:

Knowledge

CK2 - The principles of business transformation and how organisations integrate different management functions in the context of technological change;

CK3 - The role of leadership in contemporary technology based organisations;

CK4 - Own employer’s business objectives and strategy, its position in the market and how own employer adds value to its clients through the services and/or products they provide;

CK7 - The personal leadership qualities that are required to establish and maintain an organisations technical reputation.

CK8 - The role of leaders as change agents and identify contributors to successful implementation;

Skills

CS1 - Identify, document, review and design complex IT enabled business processes that define a set of activities that will accomplish specific organisational goals and provides a systematic approach to improving those processes;

CS2 -Design and develop technology roadmaps, implementation strategies and transformation plans focused on digital technologies to achieve improved productivity, functionality and end user experience in an area of technology specialism;

CS3 -Deliver workplace transformations through planning and implementing technology based business change programmes including setting objectives, priorities and responsibilities with others in an area of technology specialism;

CS4 - Negotiate and agree digital and technology specialism delivery budgets with those with decision-making responsibility;

CS5 - Develop and deliver management level presentations which resonate with senior stakeholders, both business and technical;

CS6 - Professionally present digital and technology solution specialism plans and solutions in a well-structured business report;

Learning Strategies
This module runs in parallel with the Leading Digital Transformation module as the vehicle to contextualise the material covered to your specific apprenticeship role and opportunities identified within the Technology Strategy module.

This module is designed to allow you to undertake further academic development in your DTS Specialism in support of a digital and technology soliution within the workplace.

You will be supported by a series of tutorials and individual sessions to discuss approaches to learning (including learning outcomes, assessment procedures and learning strategies) as well as a supportive programme for the discussion of formative work and clarification of approaches to learning.

You will be allocated an academic tutor to meet with on a regular basis to determine the work required and expected progress. You will be given directed learning which may be from a range of academic, industry and vendor specific materials to further develop your knowledge, skills and understanding.

The module will be delivered through a Blended learning Approach, with a Module Launch, Guided Learning, Independent Learning and Individual Reviews:

Module Launch – 6 hours

There will be a module launch with 6 hours face to face contact which will provide details of the modules purpose, content and approach

Individual Reviews – 8 hours

You will have 8 hours of tutorials sessions with your module tutor during the course of the module. In the main these will be individual but may be small group sessions during which your module tutor will be able to answer any queries that you have regarding module work.

Independent Learning – 185 hours

You will be required to complete activities in support of developing your learning and your assessment solutions, as an apprentice some othese hours are drawn from the experience and the development of knowledge and skills in the workplace.

All apprentices awork within the Digital and Technology Solutions space, but the specifics of your role, infrastructure and business environment means that your needs are individual, so this module facilitates that personalisation. Through negotiation with the course team and your employer you are required to produce specialism focussed proposal form to define the specific outcomes of your strategic technology development/transformation.

This module requires you as an apprentice to contextualise the theories and approaches covered in the Technology Strategy, and Leading Digital Transformation modules, to further enhance your specialism knowledge and skills developed in the Principles and Practices, and Negotiated Studies modules by working on an strategically important Digital and Technology Solution in the workplace.
