Skills
CS1 Identify, document, review and design complex IT enabled business processes that define a set of activities that will accomplish specific organisational goals and provides a systematic approach to improving those processes;
CS7 Demonstrate self-direction and originality in solving problems, and act autonomously in planning and implementing digital and technology solutions specialist tasks at a professional level;
This module will support the development and assessment of Knowledge, Skills and Bevaviours from the apprentices specialism KSBs from the DTSS Apprenticeship Standard:
Assessment Details
As taken from the student's own negotiated and approved module proposal form. Students will be proposing and negotiating their own forms of assessment for approval by the Negotiated Learning Committee, however there is an expectation that there will be a presentation and discussion as a final element.
As the exact nature and content will be identified by the student, with appropriate staff help in developing a the Learning Contract the assessments will be by definition individual, however it will probably take the form of a technical report and reflective presentation of analytical, experimental and other practical work relating to network engineering topics
Learning Outcomes
1. demonstrate further learning in the development of a digital and technology solutions
2 preent an evaluation of learning against a set of clearly identified needs
3 – further learning outcomes will be taken from your own negotiated and approved learning contract. The module outcomes will be agreed and approved by the subject specific mentor, the module leader and the award leader for the masters by negotiated study award as part of the negotiation and/or review of the learning contract.
Learning Strategies
This module is designed to allow you to undertake academic development in your DTS Specialism with a specific to focus on your personal development or employers requirements.
You will be supported by a series of tutorials and individual sessions to discuss approaches to learning (including learning outcomes, assessment procedures and learning strategies) as well as a supportive programme for the discussion of formative work and clarification of approaches to learning.
You will be allocated an academic tutor to meet with on a regular basis to determine the work required and expected progress. You will be given directed learning which may be from a range of academic, industry and vendor specific materials to further develop your knowledge, skills and understanding.
The module will be delivered through a Blended learning Approach, with a Module Launch, Guided Learning, Independent Learning and Individual Reviews:
Module Launch – 6 hours
There will be a module launch with 6 hours face to face contact which will provide details of the modules purpose, content and approach
Individual Reviews – 8 hours
You will have 8 hours of tutorials sessions with your module tutor during the course of the module. In the main these will be individual but may be small group sessions during which your module tutor will be able to answer any queries that you have regarding module work.
Independent Learning – 185 hours
You will be required to complete activities in support of developing your learning and your assessment solutions, as an apprentice some othese hours are drawn from the experience and the development of knowledge and skills in the workplace.
Assessment – 1 hour – presentation and assessment

As no two apprentices or employers have the same needs this module provides the flexibility to develop further learning within any area of the Digital and Tehcnology Solutions space. This negotiated module provides you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in a topic area of your choice within your specialism of the Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist standard. The area chosen will to be pertinent to your personal development or the needs of your employer. You will develop, with your tutors and employer, an individual learning contract that will define not only the content and appropriate learning materials but your own Learning Outcomes and Assessment methods as appropriate to the subject area and for the level of study. The agreed learning may be drawn from a range of academic, industry and vendor specific materials to further develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of the chosen topic area.
You will meet your academic tutor on a regular basis to set goals for the work required and to check on progress.
