This module will support the development and assessment of the following Knowledge, Skills and Bevaviours from the DTSS Apprenticeship Standard:

CS2 - Design and develop technology roadmaps, implementation strategies and transformation plans focused on digital technologies to achieve improved productivity, functionality and end user experience in an area of technology specialism;

CS4 - Negotiate and agree digital and technology specialism delivery budgets with those with decision-making responsibility;

CS7 - Demonstrate self-direction and originality in solving problems, and act autonomously in planning and implementing digital and technology solutions specialist tasks at a professional level;

CS13 Create and implement innovative technological strategies to support the development of new products, processes and services that align with the company’s business strategy, and develop and communicate compelling business proposals to support these.

CK1 - The strategic importance of technology enabled business processes, and how they are designed and managed to determine a firm’s ability to compete effectively;

Assessment 1 - An evaluation of the employers current technology strategy

Assessment 2 - A fully justified presentation of a proposed technology strategy to support the development of a product(s) or process(es) within the work place to defined technical and non-technical statekholder audience

Critically evaluate road-mapping concepts, and apply as appropriate in designing and developing technology roadmaps and implementation strategies focused on digital technologies to achieve improved productivity, functionality and end user experience;

Create strategies to support the development of the products, processes and services that align with the company’s business strategy, and develop and communicate compelling business proposals to support these.
Learning Strategies


The module will be delivered through a Blended learning Approach, with a Module Launch, Guided Learning, Independent Learning and Individual Reviews:



Module Launch – 9 hours

There will be a module launch with 9 hours face to face contact which will provide details of the modules purpose,content and approach



Guided Learning – 16 hours

There are a number of approached that may be used:

Weekly delivery - whilst there will be materials online there will be a series of webinars which will be content driven, these will either be 1 hour weekly or 2 hours on alternate weeks

Block delivery – a series of extended face to face sessions eg 4 x 4 hours



Independent Learning – 173 hours

You will be required to complete activities in support of developing your learning and your assessment solutions, as an apprentice some othese hours are drawn from the experience and the development of knowledge and skills in the workplace



Individual Reviews – 2 hours

You will have 2 hours of tutorials sessions with your module tutor during the course of the module. In the main these will be individual but may be small group sessions during which your module tutor will be able to answer any queries that you have regarding module work.

A Digital & Technology Solutions Specialist maintains and develops digital and technology strategies through technology leadership; investigating, identifying and implementing technological strategic solutions. They direct digital technology provision by studying organisation goals, strategies, and practices and delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing digital technologies. In this module you will examine technology strategies of organisations (focussing on your own) and consider developments that could be made to maintain competitive advantage. You will then present a justified technology strategy proposal to support the development of a business, a product or process.

This module directly maps to the development of core knowledge, skills and behaviours and will be supplemented and contextualised within your chosen specialism.
