Module Indicative Content
Develop an in-depth knowledge of generic Commercial Software Applications with a primary emphasis on business standard packages for:-

- Word Processing (e.g. MS Word)
- Spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel)
- Database (e.g. MS Access)
- Presentation software (e.g. MS PowerPoint)
Module Additional Assessment Details
Assignment 1 weighted at 40% covering Learning Outcomes 1 and 2 will involve the development of a spreadsheet and a report - first assessment.

Assignment 2 weighted at 60% covering Learning Outcomes 1 and 2 will involve the creation of a database and associated documentation and a short presentation utilising a suitable presentation package - final assessment.
Module Learning Strategies
A variety of learning strategies will be employed, including 18 hours of lectures and 18 hours of tutorial sessions.
Textbooks and flexible learning materials will be available for all students together with the possible use of reference books. The core material will be delivered in the contact time with the opportunity to gain confidence and competence thorugh practice on carefully graded exercises. Students will also be expected to attempt fruther exercises in their own time.
