You will be expected to take full advantage of the extensive library facilities available within the University, keeping abreast of current developments within your area of study, and wider, through current periodicals and being aware of the major practitioners in your subject specialist study area.
Module Learning Strategies
Learning activities centre on the development of the artefact/prototype/project proposed in the Negotiated Project Proposal module.
1. Progressive development of and artefact to address a specified outcome from a proposal.
2. Attending and participating in lectures, seminars, tutorials, debates and events covering development of the artefact.
3. Participation in individual and group/team activities to monitor progress and understanding of development as presented in your own and other log-files.
The module will be delivered as two hour tutorial/seminar sessions with appropriate one hour workshops.

Application of development methodologies.
Your final programme of development will have been proposed within the module ? Negotiated Project Proposal. This module is the culmination of aspirations set out in your proposal into a practical working artefact. It will be approved following discussions between yourself and your supervising tutors, and after submitting the required completed ethical forms for University committee review? after which work will begin on the development of the artefact.
The working group set up in the Project Proposal module will continue working as a team within this module. *A peer assessment of 10% of the overall marks is graded on the group participation within the module. This 10% is incorporated into the development of an artefact/ prototype/project, weighted at 60%
You will work on:
- *Negotiation within your teams, and management of your own project to a sustainable scheduled conclusion;
- Expansion of themes, features and fine-detail of the design of your project;
- Innovative and imaginative solutions to problem solving within your own project;
- Response to user testing.
- Technological trends and opportunities.
Module Special Admissions Requirements
A Project Proposal. CE52305-2 Negotiated Project Proposal, or equivalent.
Module Resources
Computer workshop facilities and appropriate software to analyse develop and implement an artefact/prototype/project and supportive development documentation for a specified proposal.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Development of an artefact/prototype/project weighted at 60% - A project development document in the form of a Log-book weighted at 30% - A presentation of the finalised project weighted at 10%.
Working with your assigned team (as a team member of two other projects and as the project manager of your own project), you will assist your team and develop your own project to a definitive conclusion.
The module will consist of:
- A log-book highlighting problem solving, direction, communication, innovation, time management, reflection, development procedures and decisions and position and action as a team member and a manager of a team. Weighted at 30% (l.o. 1)
- Development of the artefact/prototype/project from the proposal document into a sustainable answer to the stipulated problem. Weighted at 60%
(l.o. 2 and 3)
- A short individual presentation/report on the development of your artefact depicting management, problem solving methodologies and background development. Weighted at 10% (l.o. 1)
