4. Implementing security methods including payment process; validation and authorisation, security
5. Analysis of the emerging technologies in all aspects of E-Commerce
6. Evaluation of the implications of legislative developments

This module will also give you opportunity to demonstrate the following skills:

(a) Undertake research appropriate to level and subject area
(b) Assimilate, evaluate and analyse information as a result of independent or group research
(c) Formulate a practical solution to the problem, making effective use of time and resources available


Module Learning Strategies
Lecture material will capture topical issues and best practice case studies.
The practical nature of the module is emphasised by the provision of practical tutorial sessions each week and an assignment which reflects all the elements of the module.
Using the capabilities of a browser on the Internet, you will learn how to develop and implement E-Commerce from a server and client side perspective. Applications for supporting electronic commerce will be learnt using tutorials based on a suitable E-Commerce package.
Normally one lecture and one tutorial per week.

Due to the general option nature of this module the assignment types are flexible to cater for the students who attend the module.
Module Indicative Content
The nature of Electronic Commerce(E-Commerce) both technically and strategically; models of E-Commerce; legislation and applications to support E-Commerce activity.
Evaluation of the infrastructure technologies such as the Internet, interactive television, digital cash and wireless communications/mobile technology
Examination of the security of on-line shopping including payment technologies.
