Module Indicative Content
This module explicitly focuses on significant elements required for the achievement of the STAFFORDSHIRE GRADUATE ATTRIBUTES.
Teaching Block 1.
Emerging computer technologies and concepts and associated development, application and evaluation issues. Research methods, literature review techniques, referencing, research resources, critical thinking skills, critical evaluation, statistical analysis and presentation, communication of results to peers.
Module Additional Assessment Details
An assignment weighted at 100% consisting of:
Production of a research paper, approximately 2000 words and supporting research seminar which evaluates one or more emerging computer technologies and/or concepts (Learning outcomes 1 & 2)
Module Learning Strategies
I2 hours of lectures, 12 hours of seminars. Lectures will introduce students to concepts and to research strategies and techniques. Seminars will explore material in more depth and will allow students to extend their research skills and skills in presentation and communication. There will be an emphasis on independent study and learning, and students will be expected to complete the prescribed reading and extend their studies beyond the taught material.
