Module Details
Module Additional Assessment Details
100% coursework involving a portfolio of staged assessed items based around a case study scenario.

This will consist of:
A group mark derived (70% overall weighting) from:
project management documentation (10%), (learning outcome 2)
analysis and design documentation (40%), (learning outcome 1, 2, and 3)
functioning prototype (30%), (learning outcome 1)
user documentation (10%), (learning outcome 2)
presentations (10%), (learning outcome 2) (10-15 minutes)

Each individual student grade will be derived from:
the group mark (70% weighting) and 30% overall weighting derived from,
individual contribution to presentations, peer group assessment, tutor observation, an individual report of 1500 words maximum containing a critical appraisal and evaluation of the process and product (learning outcome 4) and a learning contract agreed with each student (learning outcome 5)

Module Special Admissions Requirements
None.
Module Indicative Content
Students will work remotely in groups of three or four using a cloud based collaborative development environment (CDE).
They will be presented with a brief scenario of a required mobile application.
Using appropriate tools and techniques, students will produce a detailed plan, carry out an investigation and analysis, including remotely interviewing, design an appropriate system, implement at least a functioning prototype solution, produce appropriate documentation, make an interim and a final formal online presentation of the process and product to the 'customers', critically analyse and evaluate the process and the product.
The work on the case study will be augmented by a negotiated studies learning contract to underpin technical knowledge.
Modukle Learning Strategies
Online lectures and tutorials will be used to present the module contents and organisation, the case study scenario, various aspects of communication and team working using remote access collaborative software. The student groups will interview the staff via arranged online tutorial sessions. In unsupervised study time the student groups will analyse, design and develop a working solution to the presented problem. A total of 13 hours will be timetabled for online tutorial contact per student but typically contact will be with the group.
