Module Learning Strategies
Initially you should:
(a) Identify the area of study,
(b) Develop and present a plan including the assignment milestones, deliverables and development schedule,
(c) Identify the resources needed.
Following this the research and development needs to be carried out. Typically this should be based on the techniques and knowledge acquired from the Certificate stage, together with advice from the appointed academic supervisor. The assignment report should be produced describing the achievements, techniques used and analytic aspects. The presentation will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the assignment report.

Co-requisite - Completion of the Industrial Based Certificate project or equivalent

Module Additional Assessment Details
A COURSEWORK weighted at 100%.
An assignment report [75%]plus a presentation[25%], which will be assessed by two academics. The report will normally be between 10,000 and 12,000 words in length (excluding appendices). The assessment is 100% coursework. (Learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4)

Module Indicative Content
This module builds on the understanding developed during the Industrial based Computing Certificate and Computing Research Methods modules.
The content of the assignment is individual, normally related to the students current work and usually work informed. Students must first negotiate their assignment with an appointed supervisor, start their research and present a proposal. On acceptance of the proposal the students work at their own pace, in contact with their supervisor by Email for formative comment if requested, submit the assignment and give a presentation to their supervisor and one other academic.
